-The best way to build longevity is one day at a time…it’s already built into our DNA…this means keeping our circadian rhythm in synch.

-Practice these 3 things:

-LIGHT…day is for performance (get into the daylight as early as possible and make sure to get at least an hour of natural sunlight daily – get out even if it’s a could day), night is for repair 9turn the lights down in the evening and avoid white light or blue light as much as possible – this isn’t just the lights in your house, it’s the light from the screen of your phone as well)… melanopsin = a blue light sensor in our eyes…these are activated by bright daylight, synchronizes the brain clock, raises alertness, reduces depression…BRIGHT SCREENS AT NIGHT DISRUPT THIS…Lighting Revolution

-FOOD (when to eat or not eat our food) fuel vs repair…eat within 9-10 hours (thisf is intermittent fasting, and gives you a bit more time)…the point is to fuel your body during the day, and leave plenty of time for your body to spend time repairing itself, not digesting food

-EXERCISE…sweet spot is late afternoon…this controls your blood glucose level…while many of us want to work out first thing in the morning, our bodies are better prepared for this in the afternoon…this also has the benefit of relaxing us at the end of the day…just don’t do it at night or the reverse will happen.

====> When you do the three things above, sleep takes care of itself

-Inflammation is the thread that determines how we age…it’s like the hangover that never goes away…low grade inflammation

-The gut micro biome becomes disgregulated when alcohol becomes present…other longevity people have said to me that no alcohol is best, but a glass of wine every other day is ok…my experience is that more than even two glasses of wine every day is too much for me

-IL-6, CRP, TNF-alpha…these are biomarkers…..

NF-KB…A group of proteins that help control many functions in a cell, including cell growth and survival. These proteins also control the body’s immune and inflammatory responses. NF-kB may be overactive or found in higher than normal amounts in some types of cancer cells. This may lead to cancer cell growth.
